I've spent much time since the close of the tree swallow season in July ruminating on my experience and how to share that with the community. My work was highly cooperative and immersed in the public eye. It wasn't uncommon for me to meet recreaters, and allow them to accompany me as I collected data or give them a brief snap-shot into the life of a tree swallow. Sometimes I was just an apologetic liaison for the swallows when I needed to explain that the little angry chattering bird hurtling towards a family was just trying to protect its own. Mostly I was an observer to a world largely unseen despite so many passersby.

Tonight I shared these experiences of all the ups and downs which brought both laughter and tears. My hope was to educate, inspire and instill introspection on the marvelous and difficult life of the tree swallow. It was a genuine pleasure to share my experiences with a generously attentive audience.
